Greg Page Career
A Career from 1991 to 2006
During this time, he was with the Wiggles and wore a yellow shirt. And just like the other Wiggles, he had a shtick, which was doing magic tricks. His first solo album was in 2005 entitled Taking Care of Country, which reflects his interest in Elvis Presley’s music. It was recorded with Elvis’ backup band the TCB Band. Page and the TCB Band performed in Las Vegas in the spring of 2003. He also sands back-up with Australian Elvis impersonator Mick Gerace in 2002. His second album with the TCB Band was released in 2012 and entitled Let It Be Me. Production of the album began in 2004, but because of Page’s medical issues, production was interrupted.
A Career from 2006 to 2012
The Wiggles announced on November 29, 2006, that Page would leave the group due to poor health. Since December 2005, he had experienced health difficulties when he underwent a double hernia operation and withdrew from his group’s U.S. tour after suffering repeated fainting spells, slurred speech, fatigue, and trembling. Although he was missing all of the late 2006 U.S. tours, audiences were informed that his absence at concerts moments before the curtain went up. Page at first was told that he had seven years to live, but he was diagnosed with a non-life-threatening form of dysautonomia, a difficult-to-diagnose chronic illness.
And thus because of his health complications, it was decided that he would retire from performing with the Wiggles to better manage his health. Thus being part of the Wiggles, he received a payout of about $20 million for his share in the business. And thus with Page leaving the Wiggles, he was succeeded by Sam Moran as a full member of the entertainment side of the group (although still an employee, rather than a partner, in its business side). Having recovered enough from illness by late 2009 he began touring with another country-rock band but with a more limited schedule than the Wiggles. Moreover, he started his own Greg Page Fund, to raise funds and educate the public about orthostatic intolerance. Also, while in retirement, he was a presenter on Sydney Weekender.
A Career in 2012
The Wiggles announced in January 2012, that Page has regained his health and was returning to his role as the Yellow Wiggle. It was also reported that he would return to touring with the group in March of that year. However, it was reported on May 17, 2012, that Page along with Murray Cook and Jeff Fatt would again be retiring from the Wiggles at the end of the year. Therefore, Page was to be replaced by Wiggles cast member Emma Watkins, the first female member of The Wiggles. Page and the others are expected to remain involved with the creative and production aspects of the group. However, Page would no longer have a share in the company after having sold it in 2006 when he left.
A Career from 2012 to Present
Shortly after leaving the Wiggles, he joined the cast of the children’s educational television program Butterscotch’s Playground. He then develops the show with its creators. Besides retiring from the Wiggles, from time to time beginning in 2016 he has performed with the Wiggles for reunion shows and charity fundraisers. Six months in July 2020 after suffering a heart attack, he and the original Wiggles appeared in The Soul Movers music video “Circles Baby”.
