Controversy
People continue to react to a viral video posted by the Lagos State First Lady, Ibijoke Snuo-Olu. She has attributed the death of Dr. Vwaere Diaso in an elevator crash in the General Hospital Odan, Lagos Island to an “arrow fired into the health family”.
The news outlet PUNCH reported it was reported that Diaso was in an elevator to collect food items from the dispatcher when the incident occurred on Tuesday.
Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu was taken to the emergency ward at the hospital, where she was declared dead.
In the aftermath, her colleagues took over the building of the hospital as a protest on Wednesday, and they shut down operations there.
In protest, the Nigerian Medical Association, Lagos State Chapter Chairman Dr. Benjamin Olowojebutu, and Secretary, Ismail Ajibowo, directed all doctors in the three public hospitals located on Lagos Island to begin an indefinite strike.
In the viral video Ms. Sanwo-Olu, while addressing protesters, compared the incident to the helicopter crash that occurred in the state earlier on Tuesday.

She stated, “An arrow has been launched at the Health Family. The first day of August is a date I will never forget.
“The same day a helicopter crashed, the same day a lift dropped down. How? How? How?”
The comments were not well received by a number of angry Twitter users who have criticized her Lagos First Lady her these remarks.
The unfortunate incident was described as the result of inadequate care of an elevator maintained by the hospital’s management, and not a metaphysical threat.

He tweeted “The what is simple, and nah. The government her husband runs did not maintain the lift. There was no arrow. It was merely a consequence of irresponsibility and corruption by the government. That’s what, why, and what exactly.”
However, the Lagos State Government said it has set up an inquiry panel to examine the circumstances that led to the incident, and pledged to punish anyone found guilty.
