Jurgen Klopp has argued that his squad is not too small to require signing more players this January.
Jurgen Klopp also insisted that the club can’t just keep bringing in players and questioned whether it would be wise to strengthen at this time.
In recent times, Klopp and his boys have been struggling with form amidst injury woes involving some key players at the club.
Recently Liverpool suffered a 3:0 defeat against Brighton in a game most pundits believe was the Reds’ worst game in Klopp’s era.
The defeat against Brighton has dropped the German team from fourth position to ninth in the Premier League, 10 points behind fourth-place rivals Manchester United.
While Klopp has indicated that not all of his team’s issues can be resolved through recruiting new players, Liverpool have already acquired Cody Gakpo from PSV for £44 million earlier this month.
Before Liverpool’s weekend loss to Brighton, the German had stated that it makes no sense to sign new players while others are injured.
In addition, Klopp reiterated his opinion that adding players were not always the best course of action before the Reds’ FA Cup replay against Wolves on Tuesday night.
Note that Virgil van Dijk, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, and Luis Diaz are among the first-team stars who are currently sidelined due to injury.
“If we bring in players we can’t have them all on the Premier League or Champions League list. Our squad is not too small”,Jurgen Klopp told reporters at his pre-match press conference on Monday.
“We have to strengthen but is now the right moment? I can’t see it because of the situation we are in and I think I know exactly how the situation is and that’s it pretty much.
“I can’t change the answer every week because the situation doesn’t change.”
