In the spring of 2017, Maduka Okoye quit the adolescent team that was part of Bayer Leverkusen, where he had been a player since 2009, to join the youth squad from Fortuna Dusseldorf.

The first time he signed to Regionalliga West with Fortuna Dusseldorf II in a match against Wuppertaler SV, supplanting the injured Max Schijns in the 43rd minute of the match in the year 2017. The 2017/2018 season he concluded with five appearances, allowing just one goal and keeping four clean sheets. the club finished their season in a 15th situation, with only 36 goals after 34 games, and was just a few steps clear of a move to the Oberliga.

In November 30, 2017, Gernot Rohr, the head coach of the Nigerian National Team, Gernot Rohr talked about his plans to bring Maduka Okoye to the Nigerian National Team before the 2018 World Cup. However, the plan didn’t end up being an absolute success.

On July 26, 2019, Gernot Rohr, the coach of the Nigerian National Team, said that he would shift his focus towards Maduka Okoye in order to end the goalkeeping crisis that has shaken his team in the wake of Carl Ikeme quitting because of an illness.

On the 14th of August, Gernet Rohr was pleased to welcome Maduka Okoye to sign a contract with Ukraine to play in the match, which will be played on the 10th of September 2019 at the Dnipro-Arena.

On the 13th of October, 2019 He made his world debut as a substitute in a friendly game against Brazil which ended 1-1.

On December 25, 2021. He was selected for the 2021 AFCON Nations Cup via Caretaker Coach Augustine Eguavoenas one from the 28-Man Nigeria Squad.
