Former United States President, Donald Trump has been ordered by a Manhattan jury to pay a substantial $83 million in damages for defaming writer E. Jean Carroll.

An anonymous federal jury made up of seven men and two women reached the verdict after nearly three hours of deliberations in a civil trial aiming to decide how much money — if any — the former president should give the writer as punishment for disparaging her in 2019 and denying that he sexually assaulted her in the 1990s.

This decision comes after a previous civil court jury found Trump liable for both defamation and segxwal abuse in response to Carroll’s accusations.

Carroll, a former longtime Elle magazine advice columnist, was initially seeking $10 million in damages.

But during the closing arguments on Friday, Carroll’s attorney increased the claim to $24 million, emphasizing that Trump should compensate his alleged abuse victim adequately because “the only thing he cares about is money.”

The trial concluded with closing arguments on Friday, during which Trump briefly left the courtroom but later returned after an hour later.

Trump took the stand for just three minutes on Thursday, marking the first instance where a jury directly heard from him in court since leaving the White House.
In this civil case, Trump was not obligated to be present in court, but he had expressed his intention to attend every day of the trial from the beginning.

Donald Trump was ordered to pay $83.3 million in damages for defaming E. Jean Carroll. A prior jury had already found Trump segxwally assaulted inside a department store fitting room

The $83.3 million verdict was delivered after approximately three hours of deliberation by the nine-member jury, consisting of five men and four women.

Trump, aged 77, had already left the court when the decision was announced.

KanyiDaily recalls that Donald Trump had responded to segxwal assault allegations by E. Jean Carroll, saying `I’ve never met this person in my life’.
