A Career from 2013-Present: BTS
He made his debut as a member of the BTS on June 12, 2013, with a release of the single 2Cool 4 Skool. With the BTS, he has sung three solo songs, the first pop “Begin” from the 2016 album Wings. The second one is a future bass song titled “Euphoria” which was released with an accompanying nine-minute short film on April 5, 2018. The song being produced by DJ Swivel went on and charted at No. 5 on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100.
Moreover, its full studio version was included on BTS’ Love Yourself: Answer compilation album, released on August 24. Jungkook’s third solo album under BTS entitled “My Time” off the band’s 2020 studio album Map of the Soul: 7. The song charted at No. 84 on the US Billboard Hot 100. While Euphoria and My Time are the first and second longest-charting solo tracks among K-pop singers on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart. Nevertheless, Jungkook is credited as the main producer for two of BTS’ songs: “Love is Not Over” and “Magic Shop”.
Jungkook together with the rest of the BTS members, on October 25, 2018, was ordained with the fifth-class Hwagwan Order of Cultural Merit by the President of South Korea. Besides performing with the BTS, he participated in the “One Drea, One Korea” campaign in September 2015, taking part in a song collaboration alongside various Korean artists in memory of the Korean War. On September 24, the song was released and presented at the One K Concert on October 15, in Seoul. In 2016, he was cast in the pilot episode of Flower Crew also made an appearance on Celebrity Bromance, and competed in King of Mask Singer. Jungkook performed the song “We Don’t Talk Anymore” on November 6, 2018, with original singer Charlie Puth on a special collaboration stage during the MBC Plus X Genie Music Awards.
In addition, the song has been previously covered twice, solo and with fellow BTS member Jimin. Jungkook went on and released the song “Still With You” on June 4, 2020, for free on platforms such as SoundCloud as a part of BTS’ yearly debut celebrations. The song titled “Stay Alive” produced by fellow BTS member, Suga, debuted at No. 95 and earned him the first top-ten entry on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart at No. 8. In the UK, the song became the first Lorean soundtrack in history to debut on the OCC’s Official Singles Chart, when it entered the ranking at No. 89.
