Ngige says Buhari committed to Nigeria's workers

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige has reassured workers in the country of the commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari to their wellbeing.

He assured them that the Federal Government is still committed to improving their welfare.

According to a statement on Monday by the Deputy Director, Press and Public Relations, Charles Akpan, the minister reiterated the government’s stand while speaking at the long service/merit award ceremony of the Nigerian Ports Authority in Lagos.

The minister noted that the various measures undertaken by the Federal Government since 2015 is proof of the Buhari administration’s commitment to reposition the nation’s workforce.

Ngige added that Nigerian pensioners have enjoyed better treatment from the Pension Transitional Administrative Directorate under the Buhari administration.

In his words, “The welfare of workers is a cardinal objective of the current administration because the President clearly understands the key role that workers play in national development. This is manifest in the various measures the Federal Government has taken since 2015 to reposition the workforce.”
